Caleb Kositany, a former Soy lawmaker, has been appointed chairperson of Kenya Airports Authority’s board of directors. The appointment was announced by President William Ruto in a gazette notice dated March 15, 2023.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(1) (a) of the Kenya Airport Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander in chief of the Kenya Defence Forces appoint Caleb Kipkemei Kositany,” reads the notice.
Kositany will serve in the position for three years effective March 17. The UDA lawmaker had been shortlisted and even interviewed for the Chief Administrative Secretary slot, in a list published by the Public Service Commission. However, his name was left out on Thursday when Head of Public Service Felix Koskei revealed the list. He is a close ally of President Ruto and is the former Jubilee Party deputy secretary general
six months after President Ruto took office, the appointment of 50 people to the positions of Chief Administrative Secretaries brings the formation of his Executive to a close. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, on the other hand, had only 29 CASs. The majority of those who benefited from President Ruto’s appointments are Kenya Kwanza poll losers and supporters, as well as politicians who abandoned the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition after Dr Ruto was declared the winner of the August 2022 presidential election.
