Protest In Kitale

On Thursday, Kitale town police prevented protests by Azimio supporters. Officers used tear gas to scatter the protesters who had gathered in three locations at the Kitale town entryway. While there was a noticeable increase in police presence in Kitale, the core business district’s operations were unaffected. The Azimio supporters could be seen burning tires on Kipsongo Road at Jua Kali, the entry main roundabout, and the Jamia Mosque.

Police and the supporters attempting to enter the CBD engaged in a protracted struggle earlier. The supporter expressed their dissatisfaction with police harassment despite their nonviolent protests.

Joshua Jambo’s group of protesters charged the cops with using excessive force.
They committed to continuing to back the demand for widespread action made by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
Patrick Lobolia, OCPD for Kitale, stated that police will not permit protesters to disrupt commerce.
He urged the public not to interact with officers who are keeping the community safe, claiming that they have a duty to uphold the law.
