Owner Of 5-Storey Ruaka Building That Collapsed To Be Charged With Murder

The owner of a five-story building that collapsed on November 17 in Ruaka Town, Kiambu County, will be charged with murder in court.
At the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday, investigators caught Jenniffer Kamau as she tried to exit the country (JKIA).

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mrs. Kamau will answer to murder and other crimes after the tragedy claimed the lives of two tenants.

Against Sections 203 and 204 of the Penal Code, DCI noted, “Jenniffer Kamau, who was apprehended as she departed the nation, will answer to the offences of Criminal Negligence and Murder.”

Four additional Kiambu county planning department employees will also be charged with identical offenses at the Kiambu Law Courts today, Tuesday, November 22, according to DCI.

In the meantime, the owner of a different building that collapsed on Monday at Ruiru will also be charged in a Ruiru court.

Stephen Ngaruiya will defend himself against accusations of building without the necessary permits.

When fissures were noticed in the building’s pillars on Sunday afternoon, more than 100 occupants were forced to leave. Hours later, the structure fell.
