Samson Cherargei, a senator from Nandi, has reaffirmed his assertions that President William Ruto only discovered Ksh 93.7 million in the Treasury’s savings.
This comes after the lawmaker said on Twitter on Saturday that “the country is broke,” a realization he claims to have had following the election of President Ruto’s current administration.
“The economy is no longer in ICU But Death because H.E Ruto found only 93.7M at the treasury, Uhuru went home with everything. State Capture is REAL! The country is broke Kenyans be patient H.E Ruto shall fix this through economic transformation & Prayers from all of us. Amen,” he wrote.
Cherargei reiterated his comments from Thursday morning and insisted they could be verified, claiming that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had previously made the same claims in an interview.
“What I said is correct, the Deputy President confirmed in one of the interviews in your media houses, what was left after Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi and his colleagues and their chief campaign manager President Uhuru Kenyatta were spending Ksh.4 million so we got Ksh 93 million that was left in savings. So I want to confirm that truly we found Ksh 93.7 million,” he said during an interview on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show.
Cherargei noted that operations had already begun and added his faith in the government’s ability to revive the “dilapidated economy” of the country.
“The administration in place is really trying its best, the performance so far in the nine days is impressive and I think are happy so far,” he said.
