Simba Arati, the governor of Kisii, has refuted allegations that he fired 740 County employees for failing to show up for a headcount he ordered in November of his first year in office.
Arati said in a press release distributed to newsrooms that the show cause letter to the aforementioned personnel demanded that they provide an explanation for their absence from the staff audit exercise at Gusii stadium.
The county manager stated that after 21 days, whether or not the affected employees’ salaries are suspended depends on how they respond to their departmental heads.
The county staff experienced severe turbulence on Wednesday after receiving a letter from the county secretary’s office ordering the human resource department to stop paying salaries to 740 employees.
