Two individuals who may be part of a syndicate engaged in sim-card fraud and based in the counties of Bomet, Kericho, and Nakuru have been arrested.
The Bomet villages of Mulot and Chepalungu saw the arrests of Kevin Kiplangat, also known as Elvis, 31, and Evan Kiprotich Chirchir, also known as Protio, 22, respectively, according to a report released on Wednesday by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
DCI continues, saying that the public’s reports of sim exchange fraud led to the two’s capture.
In anticipation of their arraignment in the Kericho Law Courts for a violent robbery that was reported on December 29, 2023, they are being detained at the Litein Police Station.
The DCI claims that other stations that have received reports of electronic fraud cases involving the suspects will also handle the cases.
