Three alleged armed robbers were shot and killed in Kisii, and an AK-47 rifle was found.

In a thrilling police chase that spanned two counties, Migori and Kisii, on Wednesday night, three suspected armed robbers were slain and an AK-47 gun was found.

Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau tracked the robbers after learning about a planned attack in Kisii, according to a police report by the DCI on X, formerly Twitter.

“Armed with the loaded AK 47, a Rambo sword and a machete, the gang had boarded a TVS motorcycle believed to be their transport means to targeted spots and to get away, oblivious of the ultimate justice that heeled close by,” the DCI said.

After following them for more than 60 kilometers, detectives caught up with them and told them to stop at the Kisii’s Corner Mbaya region.

“Having defied orders to surrender, the officers who have been deployed on a hell-bent mission to sanitize the streets of guns in the wrong hands opened fire, fatally injuring the three,” the detectives said.

During the incident, an AK47, a magazine with 21 bullets, a Rambo dagger, a machete, and a TVS motorcycle with the registration number KMGH 656X were recovered.

The detectives identified one of the suspects as 27-year-old Joseph Mwita from Kuria in Migori, with the other two men in their 30s awaiting identification at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
