Wajir’s Geographic Information System is introduced by Governor Ahmed Abdullahi

Ahmed Abdullahi, the governor of Wajir, has introduced an integrated Geographical Information System (GIS) in an effort to transform countywide decision-making, planning, and citizen involvement.

Governor Abdullahi stated during the launch on Wednesday that the goal of GIS is to use geospatial data to address issues facing the county and advance sustainable development.

GIS, according to Governor Abdullahi, is a potent instrument that can help the county in the future when handling difficult problems like land management, urban planning, healthcare, and disaster preparedness, among others.

“This system is not just a technological innovation but it’s a commitment to better governance,” said Governor Ahmed.

The Wajir County government worked with Mercy Corps to create the GIS.
