Fire Breakout reported at Masogo mixed Secondary School In Nyando

Last night, a fierce fire destroyed a dormitory at Masogo Mixed Secondary School in Nyando sub-county. The fire is said to have started around 11 p.m. when the students had gone to slumber in their dormitories.
Nothing was salvaged from the girl’s dormitory, according to a local administrator, Caren Onyango of Kobura. Nonetheless,  Onyango claims that efforts by locals and students to put out the fire were futile.

Due to the distance, the Kisumu fire department came late and discovered that the fire had engulfed the entire building.

Onyango went on to say that no casualties had been reported. However, several pupils had minor injuries while fleeing the burning dormitory.

“They were assisted to a nearby sub-county hospital, treated and discharged,” said the chief.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and the administration has yet to calculate the expense of the damage.
